Blood Drive for the American Red Cross

HCAR Cares held its first-ever Blood Drive to support the American Red Cross on Friday, May 13, 2022, from 10 AM to 3:30 PM at the Howard County Association of REALTORS® located at 8600 Snowden River Parkway, Columbia, MD 21045. All donors received a complimentary lunch, with The Greek on the Street food truck and the Miss Twist ice cream truck present onsite from noon to 2 PM. Those who couldn’t donate blood supported HCAR Cares by stopping by for lunch, with lunch tickets being a donation of $25 to HCAR Cares. This event was crucial as the American Red Cross was facing a national blood crisis – the worst blood shortage in over a decade, with blood donations having decreased 10% since the start of the pandemic. People were encouraged to sign up and save lives.
